Noe Aoki Pillars of Light

2023.10.14.Sat.

- 2024.01.14.Sun.

For this place, I wanted to create something that would rise up from the ground.
Rising water, darkness, light, smell particles, and chemical particles.
It also rains down from above.
I wanted to create a moving pillar of light that rises and falls repeatedly.
--Noe Aoki

In planning this exhibition, Noe Aoki focused on the museum's most distinctive feature, the nine-meter-high atrium above the basement. Here, she created a new work, Pillars of Light, and decided to use it as the title of the exhibition.
Since 2011, Aoki has been creating a series of 《something floating down》, and this time, she has developed them into "moving objects" that climb up from the ground, pour down, and rise and fall repeatedly. As she has said, "Iron is a transparent metal," and "It always has a transparent light inside," the works that Aoki creates express the essence of iron that we cannot see from the outside, and the essence of iron that is contained within. It is something that reveals the light. Please feel free to experience the space where a iron = pillars of light rises from the bottom of the lake.

The exhibition will also feature several other large-scale works, including 《core》.
